A bit of history: the landing of the Americans and the battle of Normandy

At the end of the Second World War, the landing in Normandy on the night of June 5-6, 1944, and more broadly, the Battle of Normandy from June 6 to August 19, 1944, had a crucial impact on the outcome of the conflict. The Americans took part in its operations and carried out their missions successfully. For the Americans, the landing took place on the beaches of Omaha Beach, Utah Beach and Pointe du Hoc in Normandy on the morning of June 6, 1944. Also known as D-Day, June 6, 1944 will be remembered as a key date in the history of the Second World War. This operation was a joint mission of the Allied amphibious and airborne troops. After D-Day, and once the landing was successful, despite great human losses, American soldiers embarked on a 2 month and 23 day conflict: the Battle of Normandy. Codenamed "Operation Overlord", the Battle of Normandy was one of the largest battles of World War II in Europe. This battle will be won thanks to the joint actions of the American, British, Canadian, Australian and New Zealand allied forces, but also French, Polish, Belgian, Czechoslovakian, Dutch and Norwegian forces.
