The Tank Destroyer Batallion of the US Army
The Tank Destroyer Battalion was a US Army unit created during the Second World War to counter enemy tanks. The soldiers in this unit were specially trained to handle light and mobile anti-tank weapons, such as anti-tank guns and rockets, and to use them effectively on the battlefield. The Tank Destroyer Battalions were deployed in many of the key battles of the war, including the Battle of the Bulge and the Battle of Normandy. Although these units were considered highly effective against enemy tanks, they were eventually disbanded at the end of the war due to the evolution of modern warfare and the emergence of new defence technologies.
