J. Howard Miller was a renowned American artist, best known for his work during the Second World War. Born on 5 September 1918 in Toledo, Ohio, Miller developed a precocious artistic talent that led him to study art at the Art Institute of Chicago.
In 1942, he was hired by the Westinghouse Company to create posters to support the war effort. It was during this period that he created the iconic Rosie the Riveter poster, which would become one of the most famous images in American history.
