The mustard shirt
The mustard shirt, also known as the US Army Service Shirt, became emblematic of the Second World War. This long-sleeved cotton shirt was worn by American soldiers under their combat jackets during combat operations in Europe and the Pacific. The mustard colour of the shirt was adopted for better camouflage and to hide sweat stains. The mustard shirt became popular with civilians after the war and became a retro fashion statement. Today, it is often worn at military events and historical re-enactments.
